Gov’s New Web-Billing Plan Cuts Photo voltaic Advantages by 68%: OICCI

The Abroad Buyers Chamber of Commerce and Business (OICCI) has raised issues over the revised web billing framework, stating that current adjustments have considerably lowered monetary incentives for photo voltaic shoppers whereas failing to deal with structural inefficiencies within the energy sector.
In a press release, OICCI famous that though Lahore and Multan collectively account for greater than one-third of Pakistan’s web metering shoppers, the revised framework has slashed the photo voltaic electrical energy buyback price to Rs. 8.13 per unit, a 68 % discount from earlier ranges.
Consequently, city prosumers at the moment are required to export almost seven models of electrical energy to offset the price of importing one unit throughout peak hours.

The chamber highlighted that web metering customers contribute solely 0.32 % to complete grid vitality, but have been subjected to stricter pricing measures. This comes at a time when energy distribution corporations are grappling with losses exceeding Rs. 399 billion. Based on the information cited, complete theft-related losses within the system have reached Rs. 734 billion, largely pushed by systemic inefficiencies and declining industrial demand.
OICCI said that the rising hole between low export credit and excessive retail import tariffs successfully forces photo voltaic households to soak up a part of the monetary burden stemming from inefficiencies within the energy distribution system.
To handle these challenges, the chamber really useful mandating hybrid battery storage programs to assist shift peak demand, accelerating the deployment of Superior Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Supervisory Management and Knowledge Acquisition (SCADA) programs for real-time monitoring and theft management, and making certain that put in photo voltaic capability is aligned with sanctioned load to safeguard distribution networks and keep grid stability.
